EV Charging for Site Owners

So you’ve been told to install EV charging. What do you install? How much is it going to cost? How will it pay for itself? How do I know it won’t all be obsolete within two years?

If you are a site owner and need EV charging infrastructure, you will have quickly found out how expensive charging systems can be. Presented with costs that run into tens – or even hundreds - of thousands of pounds, and usually with no clear payback, most site owners opt for the cheapest solution, only to find their investment is unsuitable and needs to be replaced.

Maybe you have already installed charging points, but find they are not being used? If so, it’s a clear indication that customers are staying away because you’ve installed the wrong equipment. It is either unreliable, too slow or insufficient to serve EV drivers. Or maybe you’ve installed EV charging equipment, but the payback is proving to be so slow that the equipment will be obsolete years or decades before it has paid for itself? Again, that’s a clear indication you have installed the wrong equipment that simply does not deliver on what you need on your site.

Even if you have spent many tens of thousands of pounds on expensive rapid charging equipment, it’s a shocking reality that whatever you have installed is probably already out of date. Rapid EV chargers installed just two years ago take anything up to three hours to fully charge a modern EV such as a Tesla Model X, Audi e-tron or Jaguar I-Pace. They are incapable of charging some of the very latest electric cars such as the Porsche Taycan because they cannot provide sufficient voltage.

It doesn’t need to be this way. Properly designed charging infrastructure is future-proof, provides EV drivers with the charging facilities they need, drives people to your location and can typically pay for itself in around two to five years.

Our systems work for both hybrids and pure EVs alike and maximises your return on investment. The result? EV charging that works for you and for your customers, driving people to your site and ensuring a return on your investment.

Of course, we know that one size does not fit all, and that is why our products are bespoke and built to order. When you speak to other charge point manufacturers, you’ll hear about technical specifications. When you speak to us, we’ll listen to your needs, discuss the business opportunities and tailor a solution around your requirements. We have an EV Charging Income Calculator that forecasts income from each charge point based on existing traffic flows and projected uptake of EVs and hybrids over the next twenty years, giving you cash flow forecasts and payback calculations you can believe in. Working with you, we can identify the right solutions for your sites to ensure you have the right EV charging solutions, both now and into the future.

A five vehicle EV charging hub with both AC and DC charging capabilities that is suitable for on-street, car parks or workplaces can be powered from a 63A power supply. Prices start at under £20,000, the system can be typically installed in a day and redeployed in the future with minimum upheaval. Payback is typically between two and four years and the EV charging hub has an expected lifespan in excess of ten years.
